wscan is a X-based application, that uses the ftlk toolkit, and works with Lucent/Orinoco cards (wi0 driver ...) to show signal strength/quality/noise. It works on FreeBSD, and various species of linux, including familiar/ipaq. (Frankly, the latter has been the hangup, as orinoco_cs has some signal strength bugs on the ipaq that we had to code around). Findable at: http://www.cs.pdx.edu/research/SMN, and the tar blob itself is really at: ftp://ftp.cs.pdx.edu/pub/mobile/wscan1.00.tar.gz Differences with the pre-release are: 1. some bug fixes, including the history "dot" mechanism in the detail screen. 2. the "log" button ... :-> 3. works with prism2 cards, maybe!. At least it works with my d-link card under wi0, but you only get "signal strength". Thanks for those who have tried it out already. I submitted it as a BSD port. regards, Jim Binkley jrb@cs.pdx.edu To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-mobile" in the body of the message
