     In terms of networking... you will have to actually use preset =20
or DHCP provided values as a lot of domain stuff used in Windows does =20=

NOT have functionality for other operating systems like FreeBSD, =20
unless there is a DNS and DHCP server that's litigating whether or =20
not you have a set hostname and can obtain an IP based on your PC's =20
Mac Address.
     In terms of filesharing... do you need server or client type =20
filesharing and (if you do use X), what is your desktop environment =20
(KDE, Gnome, XFCE, etc)? Knowing your  X setup may help determine =20
what way to best help you out with Samba.
