In your normal config do you have the floppy set to "file" /dev/fd0 or
"device" /dev/fd0?

The only VMWare I have access to right now is RedHat 7.1 running Windows
2000 SP2.  If i I set my floppy to "file" instead of "device" VMWare refuses
to connect the device; but, set to "device" it works fine.

Otherwise, I don't know what to check.
