[awesome job on FreeBSD, folks! The new install program looks much more tightly integrated with itself...] You may already know about these, but what the heck... Release: FreeBSD 2.0.5-ALPHA, pulled over from ftp.cdrom.com Thu Jun 1, 1995 HW: P-90, adaptec 1542-B, SCSI QIC(st0), 8mm exabyte(st1), NCR xxx25 FW SCSI, 4 2GB baracuda FW SCSI drives (sd0...sd3), primary boot drive 800MB IDE General problem: install doesn't work for me problem 1: when selecting media, I can specify filesystems (I put the distribution files all on my 2GB drives), but I have no apparent documented means of going to the root shell to MAKEDEV and mount the filesystem. So, no dice. problem 2: failing the above, I try SCSI tape. After I select tape, the menu program tells me there are no tape devices. There is no media in st0 (QIC), and the install tape in st1 (8mm), both of which were probed during boot, but the install program doesn't see either one. So, no dice on install... (*: Anyhow, unless I'm missing something obvious, it looks like I'm hosed (I can get loaded in other ways if I really have to, so don't worry about that). Paul Anderson pha@umich.edu
