Umm, I not understand what is unclear for you here. This description perfectly covers all possible cases about how it works before and about how it must work and how it can be solved. What else you need? Please be more specific. Additionly concerning to pam_unix changes: 1) srandomdev() can't be used in libraries (should I explain, why) 2) Traditional (old login.c, old ftpd.c) check for right-now-expired password was missing from pam_unix and added now. -- Andrey A.
