I beg your indulgence, but I find this list to be the most knowledgeable about ssh/openssh. My ssh clients and servers work as expected when connecting between my FreeBSD boxes (4.3 Release). When I try to connect to my Win2K box running the cygwin distribution, I always get the error: Access Denied I am running in password mode. The /etc/passwd file exists and has the correct password. I am starting the server by hand so there are no service/inetd issues. The same error occurs if I run the OpenSSH portable code, compiled under cygwin.
