Hi all, Patchset 2 for JDK 1.3.1 is up on the web site. The main highlights are: 1. The JDK that is built now actually works, thanks to work by Fuyuhiko Maruyama. 2. If you're brave and have the FreeBSD source installed you can build a native threads version which uses the FreeBSD pthread library. This isn't fully functional yet though (although it does seem to be ok for some simple examples). In terms of a green threads JDK, this is probably ready for early adopters as well as developers. I'd personally give native threads a miss unless you want to help develop, at least until the next patchset. I've placed a completely untested port skeleton at: http://www.eyesbeyond.com/freebsddom/java/jdk13-port.tar.gz I'd like to hear how it goes if anyone tries it out before I do. Once its ok, I'll send-pr it. I'd also appreciate any comments from more experienced port producers. Note that this is based on the jdk12-beta port (which should be obvious from reading the pkg-* files :). -- Greg Lewis Email : glewis@eyesbeyond.com Eyes Beyond Phone : (801) 765 1887 Information Technology Web : http://www.eyesbeyond.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-java" in the body of the message
