I have the very same board from the same source. The memory should be fine--the fact that one simm differs in that it can handle 60ns where the others are rated for 70ns wouldn't matter in the least. The main thing is whether they're true 36 bit parity simms. I think if they weren't you'd hear a series of beeps, which you don't mention. > I put the 50hz oscillator in (I think backwards for a moment, is that bad?) Nope, in fact it's required if you want to run the cpu at 500MHz. The cpu speed is directly tied to the oscillator frequency (the jumpers on the motherboard don't affect the cpu frequency). > I removed all the frequency jumpers (multiplier of 15) > 128bit Memory jumper is on (4 SIMMs) > Power supply powers up, standard ATX case/ps from Global (I hope I did not > botch my solder job to fix the power switch). > > Sometimes I get garble out of the serial ports like: > ..xxx..x.DSD Sounds like it's trying to spit something out. Can't help you there though--I've never used the serial console. Do you see anything at all on the monitor? When I first powered on mine, all I got was a blue screen but nothing else. I hit the return key a couple of times and the SRM prompt popped up. I then typed "set console graphics" to fix it.
