Greetings All! I am new to this list (normally hanging out on Freebsd-PPC) and have a question regarding some possible hardware support changes in FreeBSD 7. I was wondering whether support has been added for the HP XW9300 Professional Workstation. 6 would not boot with the problems described here: http://bsd.haofood.net/2006/02/02/freebsd-on-hp-xw/ and his referenced article here: http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=61050+0+/usr/local/www/ db/text/2004/freebsd-amd64/20041114.freebsd-amd64 and I have not been able to find any followup to this problem via a search of the mailing lists or googling. The machine uses a Tyan S2895 motherboard http://www.tyan.com/support_download_datasheets.aspx?model=S.S2895 with an HP BIOS. Any chance 7 would support this machine now? I have been able to boot Linux (SuSE) and Windows (XP Pro 32-bit) without difficulty, but both FreeBSD and Solaris (and Mac OS X - sssshh!) choke. Any chance this has to do with the BSD kernel specifically? In my experience the machine refused to boot both -AMD64 and -x86 variants. I do not own one at present so cannot provide specific details, but my last one was a great machine and I am considering replacing it with the same, but only if I can make it a FreeBSD box ;-) Thanks! - Jeff
