the steps described in Section 27.7 should cover other installation methods than ports, or at least give a hint. I installed ssmtp using the new pkgng system, and the mailer.conf was not touched. The mailer.conf has to be changed manually to the following: sendmail /usr/local/sbin/ssmtp send-mail /usr/local/sbin/ssmtp mailq /usr/libexec/sendmail/sendmail newaliases /usr/libexec/sendmail/sendmail hoststat /usr/libexec/sendmail/sendmail purgestat /usr/libexec/sendmail/sendmail Hello Alex, Thank you for the suggestion.
