(I briefly presented CTWM.... and talking to ctwm users, it looks like a lost cause; or else a long-wait[1].) I'm installing xfce4 now. Gnome/KDE both seem very well thought out. But hard to tweak unless you dig into the code and find out what XML(?) files to use. I give 5 gold stars to the people who have written this stuff, but they seem to have forgotten the hackers and the CLI types....
