I just said it is not necessary as a prerequisite for us encouraging porters to prefer bzip2'd tarballs. The ports framework can deal with it fine. It's just like gmake, autoconf or any other commonly used utilities. Of course, if enough people want it in the base, then I certainly won't object it going in.
