That is where we are (taken from PEP-0011):
Tier 3
    STATUS
    Must have a reliable buildbot.
    At least one core developer is signed up to support the platform.
    No response SLA to failures.
    Failures on these platforms do not block a release.

Target Triple           Notes                   Contacts
x86_64-unknown-freebsd  BSD libc, clang         Victor Stinner

This is what is needed:
Tier 2
    STATUS
    Must have a reliable buildbot.
    At least two core developers are signed up to support the platform.
    Changes which break any of these platforms are to be fixed or reverted
within 24 hours.
    Failures on these platforms block a [Python] release.

There are some heavy implications and burdens with that, right?
But I think about the profits FreeBSD could have with two core developers. 
I do have the non ending struggle in mind which each upgrade of the default
Python version in the ports, and the struggle with CPython.
