Replying to my own post: Problem is solved. In the BIOS, the PCI slot containing the ISDN card was set to IRQ 14 (having no IDE devices). The isic driver finds the card using irq 11 and then says "pci_port_map_port failed". The slot is set to IRQ 11 (which was free also) and everything works fine here ..
