They are fairly much the same thing, except now MS want to make there
own DNS instead of netBIOS they always used before... They will probably
change the /'s used in DNS with \'s :P

AD is what I call "putting all your eggs in one basket" and from MS's
history its probably a very insecure basket that things fall out of...

But regardless of all that NT4 is going to take a long time to die out
I would think, which means even if they all migrate to 2k servers, they
will all have to run in compatibility mode anyway, which means the Samba
people will have plenty of time to make it able to replace 2k's AD, and
everyone can still get rid of those horrible things :)

It would be a very hard battle to kill off all those MS workstations out
there (hell im using one now) but if we can offer all the features of these
MS servers (what ever they are supposed to be) on top of everything else I
see no reason why anyone should pay insane sums of money for that pile of
crap when we offer a far better solution for nothing!

Well thats how I feel after being forced to use w2k for a whole day, and
hearing people say the word "NT" every second sentence... The sooner I
get FreeBSD doing the job the better... For my sanitys sake :)

Eeeak, that was a long post... Looks like it could be time to take this
thread the the freebsd-NThaters list :P
Kal.
