Having used Phoenix/Firebird both with 2 and 1.2, I can say for certain that under my setup, 2.x caused great instability. The browser would randomly crash when rendering, swapping virtual desktops would break keyboard input until I moved the window, and the whole browser itself just slowed down to a crawl when using 2.x as compared to 1.2. This is all under Windowmaker on a -CURRENT system.
