Well, you see, therein lies the problem ;) We distributed a release of 2.0.5 to the students on CD, with a few local changes (e.g., retrofitted ATAPI support). But I don't know if he's running *our* generic kernel, the 2.0.5 generic kernel, or one he compiled himself. Heck, he may have even tried to install 2.1 if he had no success with 2.0.5.
