Yes, both.

Cost vs. capacity.  The Jaz is expensive but bigger & faster.

Yes.  Neither of the above are good candidates for backup devices; they're
too small and not cost effective.  

A DAT unit will cost about as much as a Jaz drive, but media are much more
cost effective (~$10 for a 2G tape vs. ~$125 for a 1G cartridge).
