I think it's coming back to me.  The Berkeley disklabel with auto never 
did work.  Another reason why the instructor of the Digital OSF/1 
course told us to create a disktab entry for non-Digital disks or 
better yet just buy Digital disks, emphasis on buy of course.  (Sorry, 
it's been a while and I've forgotten a lot.  I usually get a junior 
team member to install new systems and disks for me).
