Subject:   Reentrancy, threads and all that

Does anyone have any opinions on the state of threading in the Unix
community?  I have been working with some optionally threaded code (not
written by myself), and the #ifdef's for different operating systems
suggest that threaded and reentrant coding conventions are among the least
standardized things I have seen in the unix world.
