I downloaded the packages which are being used by sysinstall and extracted them. I found the Makefile, it was properly filled with instructions. That said; if this was the case, we would already be swampted with requests to fix this. Most likely your installation medium did not provide the src packages at all, or your download (if you used that) was corrupt or something. Thanks for the notice however!
