Isn't that a bit inconsistent? I don't think that this is really an issue of inconsistency. One thing that I believe they are working on for the future is to remove all full-blown MTAs (such as sendmail, postfix, qmail, etc...) from the base system, and to instead ship a program that would be just sufficient to handle the "null client" sort of configuration. Thus, for anyone who wants to run a real MTA, they go to the ports or pull down the source and build it themselves. So, what you see for the mail server for freebsd.org could be considered a sample of where FreeBSD is going in the future, it's just that they've chosen to use postfix as their "real" MTA. That said, there are a lot of improvements coming in sendmail, and there might be a chance in the not-to-distant future when a lot of people might start switching back to it. -- These are my opinions -- not to be taken as official Skynet policy ====================================================================== Brad Knowles, <blk@skynet.be> || Belgacom Skynet SA/NV Systems Architect, Mail/News/FTP/Proxy Admin || Rue Colonel Bourg, 124 Phone/Fax: +32-2-706.13.11/12.49 || B-1140 Brussels http://www.skynet.be || Belgium To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-chat" in the body of the message
