Yes, sorry.  Also check your ~/.cvsrc file (if you have one).

You may be having cvs tag trouble.  Try explicitly specifying the tag
that you're checking out (I had trouble with this in the past, so it's
automatic now).

eg. 'cvs update -Pd -r RELENG_2_2'

If this fixes your problem, take out the hammer marked "CVS Confuses
Me Too" and hit yourself over the head with it a few times.
