I just received one of these (840 G5). The 15-CURRENT memstick.img boots ni=
cely
in EFI mode. In legacy mode attempting to boot a clone of my Acer laptop's
disk, I believe (because it flashes a couple of lines before it boots again=
) I
see the same as in the photograph of the bug.

I did update the firmware to the 2024 (1.28.0) version of the firmware, whi=
ch
made no difference. Certainly if someone wants to use this hardware one must
use UEFI secure boot mode. Though I would prefer to simply clone my Acer SS=
D to
an SSD I could install in the new machine, saving me a lot of setup work.

* I've usually cloned one machine to the next to the next over the years. It
served me well in the Solaris and OSF/1 days and did when I started using
FreeBSD. It's a huge time saving approach to clone a drive, pop it in a new
machine and have it work with only a few minor tweaks.

This is certainly a legacy mode issue.
