Doug (and others), I've been playing around with the 'dial' version of PicoBSD. I notice on the webpage it says the latest version is 0.42. But the floppy I have just imaged (from the download link on the PicoBSD page) says that it is 0.41. Is there another location to get a newer build from? I manually edited the rc.conf file and now to add an 'ed0' network entry as well as an IP address for it. After finding that when rebooting this entry was no longer defined in rc.conf (which I had saved) I figured it might not be writing back to the disk. I mounted the floppy and edited and saved the file there and this seems to have fixed this side of things. On the other hand, every time I reboot the box I find it comes up with the kernel configuration option each time. Also, after configuring the hardware options (ie: setting up IRQ and port addresses for my netcard) and choosing 'save' it never seems to do so. Although when the kernel loads I'm able to use the netcard to ping or ftp to a node over the network these settings are not saved after the reboot. I have to go in and configure the hardware each time. How do I avoid this? Also, after going through the list archives I found a post which seems to indicate the setting Gateway=YES in the network section of rc.conf will enable NAT functionality. Do I then need to set the Default gateway of other machines on my LAN to the netcard address of the PicoBSD box, and that's it (assuming PPP is up and running)? Sorry for the long post, and thanks for the help so far.
