I I believe I have fixed this problem. I used a newer glibc version, extracted it via cpio/rpm2cpio and it fixes it. It seems the version of glibc that is installed with the fc6 port might have some regression issues, I don't have a free machine to test my theory out. I don't track the glibc changes, so it's rather difficult to say.
