Hello
After having no luck with my two oldish Xircom ethernet cards, I went
out and bought a D-Link, as I heard they would be 'more supported'
than Xircom...
So, have I bought the right thing? I am having some trouble getting it going.
It's a D-Link DSM-16CT (Ethernet PC Card, 10BaseT PCMCIA). The manual
and box say it's NE2000 compatable.
Is the DSM-16CT supported by 3.3 RELEASE?
Do I use the ed driver ala the D-Link DE-660?
According to `pccardc dumpcis` the manufacturer / model are both [IC-CARD+]
I've tried putting an entry as follows in /etc/pccard.conf:
# D-Link DSM-16CT ne2000 compat
card "IC-CARD+" "IC-CARD+"
config 0x20 "ed0" ? 0x10
insert /etc/pccard_ether ed0 link0 -link1
remove /sbin/ifconfig ed0 delete
When I insert the card I get the console message "Card inserted, slot
0", and then 10 seconds a low frequency beep, quite unlike the "happy
beep" that the machine makes when it's successfully initialised the
card.
I also put the following line in /etc/rc.conf:
ifconfig_ed0="inet 1.1.1.4 netmask 255.255.255.0"
(I'm running a masquaraded network as 1.1.1.0/255.255.255.0)
output of `ifconfig -a` doesn't include the ed0 interface at all.
What else should I look at? Or should I give up and return the card
and get something completely different???
Cheers
Jesse
