Did this on a:

  FreeBSD 4.0-STABLE #1: Fri May 26 06:47659 EST92000

system and got these messages in /var/log/messages:

May 30 02:32:49 doohan /kernel: cmd conftest pid 12565 tried to use

signal 12 (core dumped)
