Hi there- What do you mean by an adduser that's compatible with NIS? Just run adduser on your NIS master, merge the change into the master.passwd file you have in /var/yp, and remake the maps... If you're talking about adding a user on an NIS client machine and having that entry propogate to all machines in the NIS domain, I don't think that's possible (although I'm not positive).
