There's actually a patch on the Sun StarOffice website that will extend the beta until June. http://wwws.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/so6beta_patch.html The problem I have seems different. It's dying with a signal 6 (ABORT?). Unless that's how the beta acts when the time expires. I would have expected a window to pop up saying it had expired though. I'm not up on debugging linux proggies under FreeBSD. Is there a linux version of gdb that I should be looking at the core with? The FreeBSD native gdb says the core file is looking for libdl.so.2 which is certainly there, and found via "ldconfig -p" but I'm not sure if that is a furphy. I've completely deleted /compat/linux and reinstalled from ports linux_base-7.1_2. I've stopped and restarted linprocfs and created an empty mtab in /compat/linux/etc. All of that seems to make no difference. Carl.
