My installation of FreeBSD 2.1.5 is crashing every time at the same point.
I've had this installed and running before, once on a Compaq server and once
on a Gateway 486. I'm trying to install on a Gateway P133. Here's the
story:

I go through the novice installation, create partitions, select options, and
reboot. It runs through the probe, and prints a line saying "Automatic
reboot in progress..." The machine displays three more lines:

/dev/rwd0a: clean, 433324 free (68 frags, 54157 blocks, 0.0% fragmentation)
/dev/rwd0s1f: clean, 651473 free (561 frags, 81364 blocks, 0.1%
fragmentation)
/dev/rwd0s1e: clean, 496001 free (73 frags, 61991 blocks, 0.0%
fragmentation)

Then the machine just hangs.

When I finally reboot the machine (I've tried power cycling and hitting the
reset switch), it goes through the probe again, issues a warning that "/ was
not dismounted properly" and begins to fix the file system. The last
several lines are:

Automatic reboot in progress...
/dev/rwd0a: CLEAN FLAG NOT SET IN SUPERBLOCK (FIXED)
/dev/rwd0s1e: 761 files, 12819 used, 433324 free (68 frags, 54157 blocks,
0.0% fragmentation)
/dev/rwd0s1f: CLEAN FLAG NOT SET IN SUPERBLOCK (FIXED)
/dev/rwd0s1f: 29022 files, 341310 used, 651473 free (561 frags, 81364
blocks, 0.1% fragmentation)
/dev/rwd0s1e: CLEAN FLAG NOT SET IN SUPERBLOCK (FIXED)
/dev/rwd0s1e: 74 files, 366 used, 496001 free (73 frags, 61991 blocks, 0.0%
fragmentation)

And the machine hangs again. I can't get past this point on subsequent
reboots.

I really need help. I'm a computer scientist, but not a Unix expert. My
expertise is in Windows NT. I'm trying to set up a Kerberos server for
authentication into our business server. I'm using a Cisco 2514 to segment
private LAN. The 2514 bounces users to the business server once they log in
successfully at the router. I want to encrypt logon packets (as a minimum),
and the 2514 will use a Kerberos server, so I'm trying to use FreeBSD to set
one up.

Thanks for your help!
