I just upgraded my dual-processor G5 to 13-BETA2 and it's working well
without any workarounds like the one you describe.

(I do get occasional freezes though which I haven't been able to pinpoint,
which seem to happen soon after boot sometimes. But they also happened with
12.2, so no surprises there.)

I'm just now missing the prebuilt packages this thread was asking about.
Maybe I should have waited a little bit to upgrade!
