I have an update to this issue: when I set the CPU to POWER9 in QEMU, I get
different results than I had with POWER8. Now, instead of a Data Storage
Exception, I get the following message and a hang when building GENERIC64 w=
ith
gcc6:

...[normal boot]...
Error initializing RTAS (-1902)
...
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 60 seconds for 0x5f2888


I get this same error above if I build the GENERIC64 kernel with the system=
 gcc
4.2 and simply disable DDB_CTF, or if I copy the GENERIC64 kernel and use
KERNCONF env.
