[-- Attachment #1 --] I would like to ssh to host B, cd some/path, tar some/path/directory/ and output the tarball locally to TARBALL.tgz I could ssh to host B, create the tarball, then ftp but I have space limitations on host B. Also I could ssh to host B then do tar -czf - somedir | ssh host A '(cd some/path; cat > somefilename.tgz)' but security (reverse lookup issues) prevent this. I am only glad to know how method 1 can work. I know I can workaround the reverse lookups ;-) Thank you -Wash -- Odhiambo Washington <wash@wananchi.com> "The box said 'Requires Wananchi Online Ltd. www.wananchi.com Windows 95, NT, or better,' Tel: +254 2 313985-9 +254 2 313922 so I installed FreeBSD."
