Hi Folks --

A recent disk crash produced two problems. After replacing the
bad disk, three previously unaffected drives had this problem:

fsck -y /dev/sd2s1e
** /dev/rsd2s1e
BAD SUPER BLOCK: VALUES IN SUPER BLOCK DISAGREE WITH THOSE IN FIRST ALTERNATE
/dev/rsd2s1e: LABELED AS A 4.2BSD FILE SYSTEM, BUT BLOCK SIZE IS 0

What caused this and how can it be fixed?

Second, it was necessary to restore the machine's /usr/home (a separate)
partition. Now, all logins get:

shell-init: could not get current directory: permission denied.

Logins do get placed in $HOME and a simple "cd" will cure the problem.
Until then, any "pwd" command will fail.

drwxr-xr-x 20 root wheel 512 Mar 12 11:37 usr/
drwxr-xr-x 3735 root wheel 63488 Mar 11 16:36 homes/

In an archive message, J Wunsch suggested problems with fstab. Ours is:

/dev/sd4s1e /usr/homes ufs rw,nosuid 1 1

Does anyone have any suggestions for either of these issues?

Thanks,

Brian
