vat is working here on an AWE32 (SB16 essentially).  Half duplex with 
pops and clicks, but it works just fine.

You have to grab Amancio's "vat-and-half" compilation, which is vat 
compiled for half-duplex.  I can also put up my binary if you can't find 
it.
