All relevant windowmanagers have been ported (Motif, WindowMaker, KDE, GNOME, AfterStep, Emacs :) Unicode? If it is necessary it will get in. There are already a lot of non Western multi byte codes supported. The UNIX pedigree of FreeBSD is not in doubt, as it is based on the BSD 4.4 Lite release by CSRG.
