MODULES_WITH_WORLD build option changes installation dir for modules to /boot/modules. One just have to move old modules from /boot/kernel to /boot/modules manually if he set MODULES_WITH_WORLD to make sure there won't be stale copies (and move them back if unset MODULES_WITH_WORLD). If this (undocumented) rule is applied, there won't be problems with modules. Eugene Grosbein
