I had old HD firmware which would cause panics under certain cirumstances and yet buildworld wouldn't fail. I stress test 
using iozone (from ports),memtest (from ports),ab (from apache), and sql-benchmark set from MySQL. I leave it all running 
for about 3-5 days. I think it's a much brutal bashing than buildworld.
