You _edit_ them??! Anyway - sounds a little `untrivial' here to `just remove the tags'. I would suggest that after my next round of commits (this evening - (this afternoon your time)) we do the last bit of direct repository copies to get the final directory structure (as per WP). _Then_ would be a great time to detag the whole bloody lot...
