I know that vmware used to work on 4.0.1 (I used it that way at my
previous employeer). I've also downgraded to 4.0.3 and am having
problems still. I'm planning on trying downgrading to 3.3.6 when
I get a chance, even though my video card has better support under
4. I have found that running it through an ssh localhost works,
but since I upgraded my kernel recently trying to fix the crashing,
my raw disks no longer work.
