Hi all, I've got an issue with new mother board ASUS P8Z77-M PRO. My FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE can't set up Network interface for integrated NIC Realtek 8168/81111. I have tried FreeBSD-8.2, and FreeBSD-9.0 I' downloaded new distributions from freebsd.org and tried boot from them but result the same. FreeBSD couldn't setup re0 interface. in the dmesg output : re0: <RealTek 8168/8111 B/C/CP/D/DP/E PCIe Gigabit Ethernet> port 0xd000-0xd0ff mem 0xdc104000-0xdc104fff,0xdc100000-0xdc103fff irq 17 at device 0.0 on pci2 re0: Using 1 MSI-X message re0: turning off MSI enable bit. re0: Chip rev. 0x2c800000 re0: MAC rev. 0x00000000 so looks like FreeBSD detected NIC, but ifconfig shows loop interface only lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 16384 options=3<RXCSUM,TXCSUM> inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0xa inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 nd6 options=21<PERFORMNUD,AUTO_LINKLOCAL> if i try command ifconfig re0 create ifconfig: SIOCIFCREATE2: Invalid argument at the same time Ubuntu works perfect on this mother board, so there aren't any hardware issues In the official ASUS documentation for motherboard ASUS P8Z77-M PRO it's got NIC Realtek® 8111F, 1 x Gigabit LAN Controller(s) http://www.asus.ua/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77M_PRO/#specifications May be re(4) driver not updated for this mother board yet?. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=re&apropos=0&sektion=4&manpath=FreeBSD+9.0-stable&arch=default&format=html If anybody faced of such issue., let me know.
