By itself, X isn't all too secure, but logging in the remote machine with ssh then exporting will work. Even Windows machines with an X server (Reflections) can access remote X applications. I do this all the time at work with several hundred Solaris boxes on the net. The exact procedure is more than -newbies is for, but check out the X documentation and search the web for procs.
