In local.freebsd-questions you write: >Hello >Can anyone explain why ntpd needs to run at NICE -12 by default? Most likely because it is a rather time-critical application. I think it also locks itself into core memory for the same reason. When it is adjusting the clock of your computer by a number of microseconds, it is undesirable for it to have to wait milliseconds to get scheduled, or swapped in from disk. /Mikko -- Mikko Työläjärvi_______________________________________mikko@rsasecurity.com RSA Security To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
