Yes it should. After being stuck on 1.2 for years, the project was 
forked and the new maintainer released 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 all within 
about 48 hours. There still seem to be some issues, see 
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=269298, but those 
could be due to the python upgrade.

Yes, the one remaining issue I see is because of python 3.11. And the 
fix I've quoted works for me.
