From: ejc@nasvr1.cb.att.com Date: Fri, 19 Apr 1996 10:07:16 -0400 Subject: DEVFS and syslogd I get the error "syslogd: cannot create /dev/log: operation not supported" While on the subject, XF86_S3 3.1.2D isn't working with devfs and a busmouse. Booting without devfs resolves the problem. The symptoms include rapidly degrading keyboard response, terminating in a total lockup. The system will not ping at this point, nor will X die or switch vtys, within 30-40 seconds of startx. Something about /dev/random? Or perhaps /dev/mse0?
