Hi Environment: fresh Gnome-2.10 on fresh 7-CURRENT. I have some problems with such Russian file names in nautilus. Historically I am using koi8-r encoding for Russian filenames on file-system. nautilus show these files right. (as well as UTF-8 based files). But when I create russian-named file from nautilus it create objects in UTF-8 encoding. so problem a) How to setup default encoding for file-system object creation in nautilus (and whole gnome) ? Problem b) when I open samba share in nautilus (as smb://server) Russian names are shown in invalid encoding (not russian at all) For mount_smbfs there is key -E=koi8-r:cp866 that fixes this problem, but how to deal with smb:// % env | fgrep LANG GDM_LANG=ru_RU.KOI8-R LANG=ru_RU.KOI8-R % -- Vladimir B.
