  Have you added your ISP's (or any other) nameserver IP in /etc/resolv.conf? Most people will recommend you have at least two listed, in case the first one is unreachable or inoperable. Also, I have each of the inside machines of my LAN using the ISP's nameservers to resolve hostnames at each machine.
