Do you use "i" or "s" option or both? With "c" you may try to turn off the dynamic retransmit timeout estimator and set timeout explicitly with "t". We faced a problem similar to yours when using "ci" for UDP mounts from FreeBSD client and Intel Solaris 8 server.
