As other people suggested, start it from /etc/ttys (which i consider a
hack as long as nobody implemented the `window system' mode for
ttys(5)), alternatively, edit your /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers
file, and add ``vt04'' to the server line.  This turns off the auto-
probing.
